The International Symposium on Toxicity Assessment (ISTA) conference series has been organized on a biennial basis since 1983 under the leadership of Barney Dutka and D. Liu from 1983-1997, B. Dutka and Ian Falconer from 1997-2001, I. Falconer and Christian Blaise from 2001-2009, C. Blaise and Paule Vasseur from 2009-2013, P. Vasseur and Doris Au from 2013-2015, and now Doris Au and Tracy Collier.
Previous ISTA symposia have been held in 17 cities in 12 different countries:

ISTA 18 is being held, for the first time, in Brazil.
ISTA serves as a catalyst for fruitful exchanges between researchers, managers and legislators involved in all fields of environmental science, safety, and health. ISTA provides a forum for discussions dealing with current advances in toxicity and risk assessment, fundamental and innovative concepts in ecotoxicology as well as research supporting environmental protection and conservation efforts.
